By 8500 rpm you're up around 4600 fpm, which is the kind of speed the highest performance production engines turn, Ferrari 458, Corvette Z06 and the like. By 9000 rpm you'll be doing 4900 fpm, which is home to mega budget race engines and just shy of F1 cars. If you were going drag racing and it only had to stay up there for a few seconds that would be one thing but if reliability over time is important I wouldn't be looking to turn more than 8000 rpm.
